Owner
Hey there! I'm Krista, head floral artist and the proud owner of Axil + Oak floral Studio. I was born and raised all over Ventura County but planted roots deeply within the Ojai Valley as a child. Ever since I can remember, I've been captivated by the beauty of plants and the transformative power of art. This passion led me to study Environmental Horticulture, a path that perfectly intertwined my love for the outdoors and all things aesthetically beautiful.
My journey into floral design felt like a natural evolution, seamlessly blending my love for nature and artistry. That’s how Axil + Oak came to be—a name that holds deep significance. It’s inspired by the axillary bud, a key component to every plant’s growth, and the Coast Live Oak tree, which thrives within Southern California’s coastal valleys.
Inclusivity and sustainability are at the heart of Axil + Oak. As a queer-owned business, I strive to create a welcoming environment for everyone. Equally important is my commitment to environmental responsibility, which is why I practice foam-free floral design and compost my green waste, ensuring my work is as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible.
Outside of florals, some of my favorite things are gardening, reading, camping in the snow, playing with my Irish Wolfhound pup, snowboarding, and yoga!
Thanks for stopping by and joining me on this journey. I can’t wait to bring the beauty of nature into your world with my floral designs.
